New webinar demo: ECLAIR revolutionizes interfacing with IDEs

Wed, 04/08/2020 - 14:13

Apparently, Isaac Newton did some of his best work while isolating from the Great Plague of 1665/6. The enforced absence gave him time and space to develop his theories on calculus, optics and the laws of motion and gravity. We can’t claim that our work will be quite so world-changing, but we do believe we have solved an issue all static analysis tool vendors have been grappling with for years.

With the new version of our static analysis tool, ECLAIR, we are confident we have come up with the right technology to properly interface ECLAIR with IDEs and extensible editors. This new sophisticated and user-friendly interface will be available with all ECLAIR licenses. It is currently at a very advanced testing stage: in the IDE category, work is finished for Arm Development Studio, CodeWarrior Development Studio, Eclipse, HighTec Development Platform, MCUXpresso IDE, QNX Momentics Tool Suite, TASKING TriCore Eclipse IDE and Texas Intruments Code Composer Studio, while work is ongoing for Visual Studio Code and others.

This new and unique feature has two significant advantages for developers. Firstly, the direct interface with the text editor means the tool will automatically point you to the precise place in the code referenced by the tool warning. Secondly, it’s a major time saver because you’ll be able to navigate the various reports without leaving the IDE.

We will be running a free webinar to demonstrate these features later this month. In it, we will showcase the use of ECLAIR with Eclipse-based IDEs (a solution that is extensible to many other IDEs) and the use of ECLAIR with Emacs (a solution that will be ported to other extensible editors as well). The webinar is free, but you’ll need to sign up to reserve your place.
