BUGSENG at Automotive SPIN Italia 2020

20th February, Milano, Four Points by Sheraton, 12.15-12.45
We are glad to announce our presentation at the 17th workshop on automotive software & system:
"The Qualification of Software Tools in Compliance with ISO 26262"
Abstract
Modern software development processes are strongly based on the use of tools, whether or not the developed software has safety or security requirements. ISO 26262, like several other functional safety standards, require the tool users to provide proper justification for the use of a tool in the development of safety-related systems. Such justification must be based on the confidence that the tool works according to its specification for the project-specific use cases and operational environments. In this talk, we will introduce the tool qualification process as defined by ISO 26262, which includes planning tool usage, evaluation of the required confidence level, the identification and execution of qualification methods, documentation and review activities. We will focus on the qualification of compilers and verification tools by validation. For the case of verification tools, we will illustrate the most important (and, often, misunderstood) requirements qualification imposes on the development of the tools and of the associated qualification kits.

About Automotive Spin Italia
Automotive SPIN Italia was born in 2007 as a forum for free and open exchange of experiences, ideas and research results on the improvement of the software development process and vehicle electronic systems for the Italian automotive industry.
Automotive SPIN Italia aims at being a source of information and knowledge for its members and, in general, for the Italian software community.
Automotive SPIN Italia supports its members for:
- Reaching higher process maturity and software quality, reliability and safety.
- Technology transfer.
- Competitiveness enforcement by promoting networking activity, encouraging working group establishment on specific topics of interest, disseminating emerging standards (e.g. Automotive SPICE, AUTOSAR, ISO 26262) and organizing events and seminars.
